I like this the best of your mixes. The super insturmental music (I'm guess that's "At the end of the day") makes "Dirt of your soldier" sound so sort of nobel. At some parts though the lyrics and the background seem way too off, which calls your attention to the mixing. For example at: "from the bleachers their screamin, all the ballers is bouncin they like the way i be leanin" seems comical with the serious strings in the background. It doesn't take away from the song. I just though that was funny.

Awesomeness!
Katie

Thanks for the feedback, Geoff! I really had fun making this mix, and its
always good to get good feedback. And as for the album art? Thats what
happens when I have too much free time on my hands. I'm thinking about
getting some turntables, but who knows, right? :D

Wow this is really well done.
I listened to it a few times and I'm really having trouble finding things to criticize haha. The balance is good throughout, though there are a couple of places where I think the vocal level dipped for a second, but maybe I'm just crazy. These two songs are just easier to mix, so you had fewer concerns with tempo phasing and annoying stuff like that. I think I like Jay-Z's unaltered voice better.

Also, Amon Tobin. I like.

Oh and that album art = badass.

good stuff sir.

Haha Jay-z is... well, a rather interesting character, to say the very
least. Still, I'm really glad you like it! I have about 4-ish incomplete
mixes sitting on my computer, so hopefully I'll get those done soon.

a.) Before I listened to your mix, I listened to the individual songs and I was like "...okay, how is this going to go together at all?" But sure enough, you did a great job of making these two fit together really well.

b.) Overall, I think your mix did an awesome job of altering the feel of both songs and creating something new and really cool.

c.) The difference in Jay-Z's voice from version to version was kind of (well...very) hilarious. He has to be one of the wealthiest musicians out there; I am SURE he could afford some testosterone pills to solve this problem...
