iTunes $30 Giveaway!

Because I’m shabby, I felt the need to throw out a few giveaways from time to time. This time, I’m giving away TWO $15 iTunes Giftcards! All you have to do to enter is promote my blog somehow. I have a points system set up. Below is a huge list of ways you can earn submissions for the gift card. Every time you do something, you can earn more and more submissions. When the deadline rolls around (which I’m going to set as the 20th of September, Midnight EST), I will use Random.org to pull a random ticket from your list of submissions. Make sure you enter your correct email when you post comments, so I can contact you if you’re the winner. If your email returns a “Does Not Exist” email, or you do not respond to it within a week, I will choose a second winner. Anyways, I’m willing to give submissions for almost anything that’ll get my blog a bit of publicity. Here are some ideas I came up with;

Just post a comment!  (1) (Easiest way!)
Come on. How much easier could it be? Heck, I’ll even give you a second submission if your comment is funny.

Digg this post! (2) (ALMOST easiest way)
I want this post to be ALL over Digg. Help me out here!

Tweet about this post on Twitter (1)
Everyone is tweeting these days. Fairly self-explanitory. The “Share This” link on the bottom makes tweeting this post really easy. One submission.

Join my Facebook Fan Page! (2 each)
I set up a Facebook page for my site. Check it out here, and post a comment here AND on the fan page itself once you’ve subscribed. You can find it here.

Follow me! (2 each)
Follow me, either by email or RSS , and post a comment once you have so I can check. – 2 submissions each.

Network me! (1 each)
Add me to a social network or web bookmarking site (StumbleUpon, Delicious.com, etc). Again, post a comment here with a link to the added submission. – 1 submission

Donate 100 Entrecard Credits (3)
If you’re an Entrecard user, you can donate Entrecard Credits to me. I’ll give you 3 submissions for every 100 you send me.

Review my blog on yours! (3)

If you review my blog, not only will you get 3 submissions, but I’ll review yours if you win! Good deal, huh? Just contact me or post a comment here, and I’ll get you your credits right away.

Post a link for my site on yours (3)
This is one of the best way to get submissions. I get a few hits, and you get 3 submissions to win the gift card!

Put an ad up for my site (5)
This is fairly straighforward; if you’re a blogger, put an image ad for my site up on your site. I can provide images if you need. Just click the “Contact” tab on the top of this page. For this, I award 5 submissions.

If you come up with a better idea for ways to promote my blog, I’ll add it to the list above AND give you 1 submission for free. Just contact me, and I’ll respond as soon as I can. So, comment up, promote my blog, and you might be the owner of $15 iTunes Dollars!

My first youtube video hits 85 thousand!

This is more of a personal achievement, but I was ecstatic to see that my first youtube video, “How to control your computer with your iPod Touch,” reached 85 thousand hits. Its been over a year since its been up, and it has a lot of flaws, but for my first video, I was pretty impressed with myself. If you’re intent on following the video tutorial, I strongly recommend that you read the “More info” section of the video. It has updated links, edits, and shortcuts that make the video actually work a year after it was published. As always, let me know if you have any issues. Regardless, here it is;

Make sure you comment, rate it 5 stars, favorite it, or subscribe to my youtube channel. I really appreciate it. Thanks to everyone for all the hits. I love it. I owe you guys one.

#MusicMonday – Her Morning Elegance

First things first…

I’d like to say that my domain and hosting have both been transfered, and my site is 100% back. There are a few kinks I’m working out, but nothing anyone but I would notice (for example, I’m still re-configuring the mobile admin portion of the site).

Now, onto the music.

I know I’ve been doing a lot of soft, smooth music recently, but I can’t help but throw out another. Its called “Her Morning Elegance” by Oren Lavie. I have to say, when I hear a song, I’ll listen to it, like it, and then forget about it. If I see its music video, however, I’ll really, really get attached to it (if the video is good, of course). This was one of those songs; I just fell in love with it. Here, take a look;

A bit about the song…

To my knowledge, I only hear 4 instruments; an electric piano, a snare drum, a xylophone, and a cello. If you know me at all, you’ll know that any song with a cello really really impresses me (unless, of course, its done poorly). The music video is particularly good; its done via stop animation; a picture is taken, the scene is moved a little bit, and another picture is taken, thus creating slides of a video. The way it syncs up with the music, and the way it all uses a mattress as a background (you’ll have to see the video to see what I mean) is just really unique.

Site Issues

Regrets, regrets, and regrets…

First off, I’d like to apologize for the site being down for a few days; My hosting company, Conquerhosting.com, resells hosting from Ankeservers.com. Apparently, Ankeservers shut Conquerhosting down, consequentially shutting down every one of their clients, including me. I’ve been meaning to switch hosting plans for a while, and this is the last straw; As soon as I can, I’m switching my hosting to surpasshosting.com and I’m migrating my domain to Godaddy.com.

Now that that’s been said…

I’m planning on starting up another giveaway to get my traffic back up, considering its dropped considerably during the 3 days the site was down. I have quite a few things to give away; a $15 dollar iTunes gift card, and a 3 day trial pass to “Day of Defeat: Source,” just to name a few things. So, stay posted, and keep in touch.

Cheers,

Salem

Thru-You: Youtube Remixed

You haven’t seen Youtube like this before.

I found this incredible site recently, and I had to share it with everyone. Its called Thru-You.com, and it features the work of Kutiman. What he does is truly incredible; he takes completely disconnected and unrelated youtube videos and throws them together into a song. And they sound fantastic. I mean… I could never do something like this. This guy has some serious talent. Here; take a look:

The Mother of All Funk Chords

Download his songs.

I think its just fantastic. I couldn’t find any .mp3 downloads for any of his songs, so I ran his videos through listentoyoutube.com and got links for everyone.

2. This is What It Became
3. I M New
4.
Babylon Band
5.

6. Wait For Me
7. Just a Lady

I’ll try to throw together a .zip package of his music, with his permission (of course).

Check out all his music… its well worth your while. Believe me.

#MusicMonday: All of My Days

Well, its Monday again. I got back from France in the nick of time, didn’t I? Don’t worry, I’ll post pictures of my fantastic vacation sometime. But for now, there are more pressing matters at hand; its Monday, and I need to write up a song. I did a bit of sifting, sorting, emailing, and jostling, but I finally found one. And there are only 4 hours left of Monday. I have got to be more attentive.  Anyways…

All of My Days – Alexi Murdoch

This week, with the help of a friend Kate, I picked the song “All of My Days,” by Alexi Murdoch. Alexi Murdoch, born in London, is an independent songwriter, whose music has been featured in movies like “Ladder 49” and “Away We Go.” Frankly, this is the first time I’ve heard his music, and I must say its made me wonder why I haven’t listened to more of him in the past.

It took way too long to align this video to the article’s width.

A little about the song:

The song itself is very mellow and peaceful, with a wide variety of instruments. I hear some cellos (among other strings), which is a huge plus for me. The guy has a fantastic voice, with a slight British accent.  Its a perfect song if you need a pick-me-up, or if you just need something to fall asleep to.

“All of My Days” comes from the film “Away We Go,” which opened the Edinburgh 2009 film festival and is expected to be out on BluRay and DVD on September 29th of this year. The film, in a nutshell, is about a husband and wife, expecting a baby, looking for the perfect place to live.

Thanks again to Kate for her recommendation! Check out her YouTube page, while you’re at it.
